Women’s basketball coach Kay Yow and author Tim Peeler, will sign books Friday, Dec. 7 at NC State Bookstores’ annual Final Madness Sale .
Yow will begin signing copies of her new childrens book, I Will, Not Just I’ll Try, at 5:30 pm, according to John Starbuck, assistant director of marketing.
“It’s really neat that she wrote a children’s book,” Melissa Pirkl, a sophomore in biomedical engineering, said. “I was considering going so that I could get a copy for my mom since she’s a preschool teacher.”
Peeler will be available to sign his book, When March Went Mad from 5 to 8 p.m., Starbuck said, and the 40-percent-off sale will encompass most items in the bookstore.
“I’m definitely planning on going to this sale,” Chrissy Johnsen, a sophomore in nuclear engineering, said. “I went last year and got some really nice N.C. State gear for a great price, including gifts for my N.C. State fans back home.”
According to Starbuck, all apparel and novelty gifts are discounted during the sale. Some items, such as textbooks and computers, will remain at their regular prices, he said.
“Traditionally we have a considerable turnout at the sale since there are such great discounts,” Starbuck said. “We have even extended the sale an extra hour this year to allow people to come and see Coach Yow and Tim Peeler.”
The bookstore will be closed from 2 to 3 p.m. to give the staff time to prepare for the sale, Starbuck said. Additional parking will be available in the Reynolds Coliseum parking deck.
“This sounds like a great sale but they should advertise it more in advance,” Pirkl said. “The bookstore is great for Christmas gifts especially if there is a sale going on.”
