Headlines that MatterSwimmer rewrites record booksRedshirt junior Stephen Mellor broke three school records this weekend at the Georgia Tech Invite. Mellor swam a 1:48.32 in the 200 IM on Friday, topping the old mark of 1:48.37, set in 2000. On Saturday, he recorded a 3:53.31 in the 400 IM, smashing the old mark of 3:54.13. He set another State record with a time of 1:44.54 in the 200-yard backstroke on Sunday.
Women pick up win, lossAfter falling to St. John’s 60-55 on Saturday at the TD Banknorth Classic in Burlington, Vt., the women’s basketball team coasted to a 65-31 victory over Brown in the consolation game on Sunday. Khadijah Whittington collected a double-double in both games. The senior forward notched 18 points and 18 rebounds in the loss and earned 10 points and 10 rebounds in the win.
