Headlines that MatterLowe: Gonzalez will playMen’s basketball coach Sidney Lowe said on Tuesday freshman point guard Javier Gonzalez had practiced for a couple days and will play in Thursday night’s season opener against William & Mary.Lowe said redshirt sophomore Farnold Degand will start, but that Gonzalez will also play. For now, until Tennessee transfer sophomore Marques Johnson becomes eligible at the end of the semester, Lowe said junior shooting guard Courtney Fells will be the team’s third option at point guard.Lowe also said redshirt junior shooting guard Trevor Ferguson’s efforts in practice have him in contention for playing time.
