A suspect in Monday evening’s Durham car jacking was tracked by Raleigh PD to 5028 – 20L Sumter Square apartments Tuesday afternoon.

Fort Sumter Road was closed to traffic while helicopters, Raleigh SWAT, Wake County Police and Raleigh Police patrolled the area. Around 6:45 p.m. SWAT team members entered the townhouse. They had the suspect in custody by 7:05 p.m.

Though area residents speculated the situation was drug-related, an unidentified neighbor said the residents of the townhouse were gang-affiliated and had been involved with police before.
