Where State Stands
N.C. State is out. A season-ending loss to Maryland meant the Wolfpack went from almost bowl eligible to last place in the Atlantic division. State has a 4-11 record against divisional opponents since division play began in 2005, and the Pack is two second-half comebacks from being 0-10 in the Atlantic since division over the past two years.
On the road to Jacksonville
The title game is finally here. Pre-season favorite Virginia Tech found its way to Jacksonville, while pre-season Atlantic favorite Florida State limped to a 4-4 finish. Boston College and its Heisman-candidate quarterback Matt Ryan completed a strong finish to reach the title game. Now, the Hokies looks for redemption after BC’s come-from-behind victory in the final minutes last month. Boston College is looking for its first-ever ACC title after joining the league in 2005 while Virginia Tech is looking for its second title after joining the league in 2004. The winner of Saturday’s contest claims the conference title and a trip to the Orange Bowl, the ACC’s BCS bowl.
