As an international student here in the United States, I feel that learning a foreign language is essential, especially for a communication major. I believe that one will understand another culture better if one can master that language. I have read some novels which were translated into Chinese. But after I read the original version of the same book, I can grab the author’s intention more easily. And according to my experience, learning a foreign language does not depend much on talent. It really depends on how much time and effort you put into it. I started to learn English in kindergarten; I could easily pass the English tests conducted in college when I was in high school. So I could not understand the reason that Leah is still struggling with Spanish.

Congratulations ZTA and PiKA
Many fans in attendance and viewers from home may have taken a break at halftime from watching the field where their beloved Wolfpack was “Crushing the Cavs.” During halftime of Saturday’s game students from various organizations stood proud on the 50-yard line of Carter Finley Stadium to accept awards that represented the hard work of their organization.
One of these awards brought out onto the field was the Stafford Bell, which is awarded to the winner of the Homecoming Spirit completion each year. Congratulations to this year’s winner, the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. ZTA and PIKA together donated more than 4,000 cans during the canned food drive, gave donation after donation of blood and bone marrow samples to the American Red Cross, and brought what seemed like their entire chapters out to events such as Wear Red Get Fed, Take Back The Night and Men Against Rape throughout the week. Homecoming at N.C. State is coming back stronger and stronger each year, and participation from Greek organizations helped bring excitement to the week. Again congratulations to ZTA and PIKA for a week of hard work and a well-deserved victory!
