A wreck Monday involving a bicyclist and a vehicle near the intersection of Avent Ferry Road and Western Boulevard resulted in one hospitilization, according to Campus Police Capt. Jon Barnwell.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m., he said.
“The bicyclist coming out of Mission Valley shopping center was trying to shoot across traffic,” he said.
The vehicle was coming up Avent Ferry Road in the direction of Morrill Drive and was preparing to turn onto Western Blvd., when it collided with the bicyclist, he said.
“[The] bicyclist was conscious while being transported to WakeMed,” Barnwell said.
According to Barnwell, campus police arrived on the scene first and were able to assess the situation, then assisted the Raleigh Police Department upon their arrival.
The Raleigh Police Department could not be reached for a follow-up.
