What happened the last time N.C. State played Virginia?
On Oct. 28, 2006, the Wolfpack lost their third straight game, falling 14-7 against the host Cavaliers. A one-yard Jason Snelling touchdown run put State behind 7-0 in the first quarter.
The Pack wouldn’t score until 4:48 remained in the game. The score was an eight-yard pass from Daniel Evans to John Dunlap, and the extra point tied the game 7-7.
Virginia, though, scored with 1:31 remaining on an 18-yard run by Snelling, sealing a 14-7 win.

1. N.C. State 51, Virginia 37, Nov. 1, 2003
In a back-and-forth battle at Carter-Finley Stadium, Philip Rivers and State found a way to pull out a dramatic victory over Virginia. T.A. McLendon had a 38-yard run with 23 seconds remaining to give the Wolfpack the lead. Victor Stephens intercepted a Matt Schaub pass to give State the win — 51-37. Philip Rivers finished the game with 410 yards passing with four touchdowns and no interceptions.
2. Virginia 14, N.C. State 9, Nov. 16, 2002
After starting the season 9-0, the Wolfpack went on to lose three straight games — with the Cavaliers being the third team to take down State. The Pack had a shot at the end of the game but a 4th-and-7 Philip Rivers’ pass went incomplete and State would lose 14-9.
3. Virginia 24, N.C. State 17, Nov. 18, 2000
In Chuck Amato’s first season as State’s coach, his team entered the Virginia game 6-3 overall and with high expectations. The 24-17 loss gave Amato’s team its third loss in four games. The Pack would win its final regular season game against Wake Forest before defeating Minnesota in the Micronpc.com Bowl.
