Oct. 8, 1994Louisville 35, N.C. State 14This was one of the few blemishes on the Pack’s record during a 9-3 campaign. The season would eventually end with a 28-24 Peach Bowl victory against Mississippi State, but this day didn’t go as well in a 21-point thumping.

Ernest Jones on:
His favorite nickname on the team
I don’t know if I should say this. LeRue Rumph. We call him “LeRue Rumpshaker.” That’s one of my top favorites. He doesn’t know about that one. I tend to keep that one to myself. When he finds out about it, he is going to be pretty upset about that one.

Where State stands:Where does State stand? N.C. State stands in dead last in the Atlantic division with a record of 0-2. It’s not too late for the Wolfpack to turn things around this season, but the turnaround must start now. Louisville may not be an ACC opponent, but a win would garner much-needed momentum heading into the homestretch this season — after tomorrow, six of State’s last seven games are against ACC foes.
On the road to Jacksonville:Virginia and Boston College are in the drivers’ seats right now with both teams sitting at 3-0 in the conference. Clemson is in fine shape, too, with a record of 2-0. Perennial contenders Virginia Tech plays its first ACC game this weekend, hosting North Carolina. Miami also has not played a conference game yet.
