What happened? The wrestling team placed 14th at a Las Vegas Invitational last weekend. Coach Carter Jordan said the younger members of the team are learning about competing at the collegiate level.
“They have learned. Some of the younger guys saw some national competition, and it was good for them,” Jordan said. “And some of the upperclassmen saw that they can wrestle at this level and got to watch their teammates with a championship and another be a point away from taking third place.”
Who’s Hot? Sophomore Darrion Caldwell. At 149 pounds, Caldwell won the championship in his weight class. He was also named ACC Wrestler of the Week for his performance this weekend.
Who’s Not The record is not so great, but Jordan said he knew the team could possibly go 0-6 by the way he set up the schedule for this season. But he said the team can do so much more.
“We just have to continue working hard,” Jordan said.
What’s Next? The team, along with the gymnastics team, will host the Beauty and the Beast Bash Sunday in Reynolds Coliseum. Following that, the Wolfpack will have some time off before competing in the Southern Scuffle in Greensboro Dec. 28 and 29.
