According to a WolfAlert email sent by the NC State University Police Department, a student was threatened by an individual with a handgun in the parking lot of North Residence Hall. The weapon was not pointed at the victim and no shots were fired.

The WolfAlert reported that the incident occurred at approximately 10:46 a.m.

The suspect is described as a black male, around 30 years of age, wearing a grey sweatshirt or vest. Following the incident, the suspect left the scene in an unknown direction of travel, driving a white or off-white sedan.

NC State University Police encourages the campus community to take the following  steps to keep themselves safe:

– Walk in groups whenever possible, especially at night.

– If you feel unsafe in any situation, trust your instinct and contact University Police immediately to report suspicious activities or crimes on campus by calling 911 or 919-515-3000
