On Tuesday, March 7, NC State football redshirt sophomore defensive back Bryce Banks was arrested for unlawful distribution of a controlled substance in his hometown of Columbia, Missouri. According to ABC 17 KMiz in Columbia, police performed a routine traffic stop on Banks. They searched his car and found a bottle of Excedrin extra strength.
In addition to the excedrin pills, the bottle also contained 49 Xanax pills. Banks was arrested for unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, with bail set at $6,500, but has not been formally charged yet.
NC State associate athletics director Fred Demarest told ABC 17 that “We have been made aware of the incident, will continue to gather information and proceed in accordance with our student-athlete policy.”
NC State football is set to open the 2017-18 season Saturday, Sept. 2 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte against the South Carolina Gamecocks.
