Softball wins GT series
After dropping its first game, 7-6, on Friday to Georgia Tech, the NC State softball team went on to win the ACC series, defeating the Yellow Jackets, 12-11, Saturday and shutting them out, 3-0, Sunday. In the shutout, freshman pitcher Peyton Silverman held Georgia Tech to just four hits; the game marked her third shutout of the season and her 17th complete game. The Pack improves to 14-25 on the season and 8-4 in conference play following the victory. NC State is currently ranked third in the ACC.

Men’s soccer lands English recruit Sweeney
Brad Sweeney, a midfielder from England who comes from West Bromwich Albion’s second team in the Premier League 2, will play for the NC State men’s soccer team next season, head coach George Kiefer announced Friday. Sweeney played 16 games and started 14 for West Brom 2 this past season in the Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy competition. Sweeney will come in as a freshman to start the 2017 season, joining the Pack’s No. 13 recruiting class.

Women’s soccer sweeps Southern Showcase
At the Southern Showcase in Clemmons, North Carolina this weekend, the NC State women’s soccer team pushed its undefeated exhibition season record to 4-0-1, beating Clemson and South Carolina for a perfect weekend. The Pack won each game by a score of 1-0. Sophomore midfielder Paige Griffiths picked up the game winner against the Tigers, while sophomore midfielder Ricarda Walkling grabbed the game decider over the Gamecocks. The Wolfpack will wrap up its exhibition season at home against Liberty at Dail Soccer Stadium Saturday April 22 at 1 p.m.
