Avent wins 1,000
In NC State baseball’s 13-0 win over NC Central Tuesday night, longtime head coach Elliott Avent picked up his 1,000th career win as a college baseball head coach. Avent is coaching his 21st season with the Pack and 28th overall as a head coach. Avent is the fifth active coach in the ACC and 15th in NCAA Division 1 baseball to win 1,000 games as a head coach. The Pack hit four home runs in the win over the Eagles, the most the team has hit in a game this season.

Trea Turner’s big night
Former NC State baseball player Trea Turner had a huge game for the Washington Nationals last night, hitting for the cycle while collecting seven RBIs. Turner tripled on a hard line drive down the left-field line in the seventh inning to complete the cycle, which was just the third in Nationals history.
Turner is the youngest player to hit for the cycle since 2013, and is the second-youngest player to ever tally seven RBIs and a cycle in the same game. It was Turner’s fifth game since returning from a hamstring injury that sidelined him for 10 games, and his big night helped propel the Nationals to a 15-12 win over the Colorado Rockies.
