Anya, Kirk don’t travel with team to FSU
Senior Beejay Anya and sophomore Shaun Kirk did not make the trip to Tallahassee with the NC State men’s basketball team for the Wednesday night matchup against Florida State. While Kirk is under concussion protocol, Anya’s absence is cited as a “coach’s decision.”

Nielsen heads to NFL
NC State defensive line coach Ryan Nielsen is leaving the football team to serve at the same position with the New Orleans Saints. Nielsen came from Northern Illinois with head coach Dave Doeren in 2013. Nielsen coached the defensive line assisted the defense that finished third against the run in the 2016 season.

Koon named ACC Women’s Track Performer of the Week
Redshirt sophomore Rachel Koon has earned ACC Women’s Track Performer of the Week honors after recording the third-fastest time in the NCAA this season and the sixth-fastest time in school history with a time of 9:09.99 in the 3,000-meter run. Koon is now third in the NCAA standings and is in position to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Four Pack football players named to All-ACC Academic Team
The NC State football team had four players from last season’s roster named to the 2016 All-ACC Academic Football Team. Center Joe Scelfo, who graduated after the season, redshirt junior quarterback Ryan Finley, redshirt junior guard Garrett Bradbury and senior linebacker Airius Moore all earned a spot. In order to make the All-Academic team, a player has to have a 3.0 GPA throughout his career, and also have had a 3.0 the previous semester. If the student-athlete is a graduate student, he needs a 3.5.
