PNC Bank will soon become the official bank of NC State, according to a release from the University. PNC, headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, will provide approximately $9 million to NC State over the 15-year contract period.
“We are pleased to enter into this agreement and appreciate PNC’s long-term support of NC State,” Chancellor Randy Woodson said in a statement. “This sponsorship provides convenience and financial management educational opportunities to students, faculty and staff, as well as resources to help achieve our university’s educational, research and outreach mission.”
There are several main points of the agreement. PNC financial wellness programming will be offering on-campus workshops for students to teach them about banking, credit management, savings and investing, and identity protection.
There will be up to nine PNC ATMs around campus, two of which will allow students, faculty and staff to cash and deposit checks or cash directly into their accounts. PNC will be introducing the Virtual Wallet Student® available for students to monitor spending, view account balances and protect against financial errors.
An electronic financial services office will be open for students in Talley Student Union beginning in 2018. A co-branded NC State debit card will also be available to students, alumni, staff and PNC account holders in 2018.
“Together, NC State and PNC believe in helping students succeed in the workforce of tomorrow,” said Jim Hansen, PNC regional president for Eastern Carolinas, in a statement. “Financial literacy is critical to their success. Our relationship will help students and individuals make educated, responsible financial decisions that will serve them all of their lives.”
In a related agreement between PNC and Wolfpack Sports Properties, PNC will also be the official bank of NC State Athletics, which will provide their branding. PNC will sponsor NC State’s Football Military Appreciation Day game each year.
NC State is one of the 400 schools across 19 states that has a relationship with PNC.
