An NC State alumna was among those injured during a shooting at Sunday’s Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, according to multiple Facebook posts.
Jenna DeCandio graduated from the College of Textiles in 2017, and currently resides in New Jersey.
“We haven’t spoken to the doctors yet but the nurse said the bullet missed her stomach, bowels, intestine, vital organs and arteries and for that we are truly thankful,” said Jill DeCandio, Jenna’s mother, in a Facebook post on Monday.
According to another Facebook post by Gracie Flanagan, an NC State alumna and sorority sister of DeCandio, DeCandio had surgery on her stomach and hip on Monday.
“All went well and the Drs and RNs are satisfied she will make a full, though slow, recovery,” Flanagan said in the post.
Fifty-nine people were killed and over 500 wounded when Stephen Paddock opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel, the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
