The NC State men’s soccer team plays its final game of the season on Friday night at Dail Soccer Field against the Boston College Eagles.
The Pack is 8-4-3 overall and 3-3-1 in the ACC. State was supposed to play South Carolina on Tuesday night but the game was canceled because of weather. The Eagles come in at 6-9 overall and 1-6 in the ACC.
Eight seniors will be honored before the game for their contribution to the program over the past four years. Midfielder Julius Duchscherer has four goals this season, despite missing six games due to injury. Forward Ade Taiwo has two goals and four assists after suffering multiple season-ending injuries in his career. Defenseman Caleb Duvernay has played every game and been a stabilizing presence on the back line for the Pack this year. Midfielder Jan-Luca Ahillen, midfielder Nick Retzlaf, defenseman Jake Dykes, midfielder Roland Minogue and midfielder Maximilian Luftl will also play their final games for the Pack.
Freshman forward Manny Perez leads State with five goals, including two in a huge comeback win over No. 5 Louisville last week. Freshman goalie Leon Krapf has gotten stronger as the season has gone on. He has a .691 save percentage and allows 1.08 goals per game.
Boston College has won three of its last four games, with wins over Harvard, Syracuse and Connecticut. The Eagles lost 4-0 to Wake Forest on Saturday.
Forward Simon Enstrom leads the Eagles and is tied for third in the ACC with nine goals on the season, and also has four assists. Midfielder Callum Johnson is second on the team with four goals.
Antonio Chavez Borrelli has been the Eagles’ starting goalie for the majority of the season. He has a .662 save percentage and allows 1.79 goals per game.
If NC State is able to keep Enstrom off the scoresheet, and put pressure on the defense and Borelli, they will have a good chance to win. The Eagles have only won one ACC game, so making them play from behind and on their defensive side of the field is very important for the Pack.
The game starts at 7 p.m. on Friday at Dail Soccer Field and senior night festivities will start beforehand. The game will also be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
