NC State Athletics and football head coach Dave Doeren are currently in negotiations for a contract extension for Doeren, according to Joe Giglio of The News & Observer.
The news was initially reported by Dan Wolken of USA Today Sports, and has since been confirmed by Giglio. Doeren’s contract currently runs through the 2019 season, and was initially extended in 2014. His current deal is worth around $2.2 million a year.
“We want Dave here a long time and appreciate the progress that has been made,” NC State Athletics Director Debbie Yow wrote in a text to Giglio.
Doeren, currently in his fifth year with the program, has compiled an overall record of 30-27, but is 12-23 in ACC play. However, the Pack is off to a hot start this season, with a 5-1 record and an unblemished conference mark of 3-0, leading to the program’s first national ranking since 2010.
