The NC State University Police Department is currently investigating a phone scam operation affecting the campus community, according to a safety notice released to students on Monday.

According to University Police, scammers are calling students, claiming to represent the Internal Revenue Service and asking about collecting outstanding debt. The calls appear to be coming from University Police phone numbers, per the safety notice.
