Three wrestlers reach podium at University Nationals
Senior Pete Renda, redshirt sophomore Malik McDonald and junior Michael Boykin earned All-American honors with their top-eight finishes in the University Freestyle division of University Nationals in Akron, Ohio this past weekend.
McDonald won his first three matches of the meet in the 125 kg class, outscoring his opponents 22-5, before losing and moving into the consolation bracket. McDonald would pick up two more wins, before losing again to set up a matchup against his teammate, Boykin, in the fifth-place match. Boykin, who won his first four matches of the meet before losing, dropped a close 3-0 bout to McDonald.
Renda was the runner-up in the 86 kg weight class. He coasted into the finals, winning five-straight matches by a combined score of 52-5. He was beaten out by Ohio State’s Myles Martin, a 2016 national champion, 4-2 in the finals.

Torry Holt named to College Football Hall of Fame ballot
Former NC State football wide receiver Torry Holt is listed on the ballot for 2018 induction into the College Football Hall of Fame, the Hall of Fame and National Football Foundation announced Thursday, June 1. Holt’s number 81 jersey has been retired by the Pack, and he is a member of the NC State Athletic Hall of Fame.
In his senior season in 1998, he was a consensus first-team All-American and won both ACC Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year. He holds the ACC single-season receiving yards record and is sixth all-time in league history in that regard. He holds school records for single-season receptions (88), single-game receptions (15), career receiving yards (3,379), single-season receiving yards (1,604), single-season receiving touchdowns (16), career receiving touchdowns (31), single-game receiving yards (255), single game touchdown receptions (5) and career all-purpose yardage (1,979). The 2018 Hall of Fame inductees will be announced Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 in Atlanta, the day of the 2018 CFP National Championship.

Game times, networks for first three football games announced
The ACC has released game times and television information for the first three weeks of the 2017-18 football season. In week one, the Wolfpack, which finished 7-6 in 2016-17, will face off against the South Carolina Gamecocks at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte Saturday Sept. 2. That game will have a 3 p.m. kickoff and air nationally on ESPN. The Gamecocks went 6-7 last year.
For week two Saturday Sept. 9 the Pack will return to Carter Finley Stadium to host the Marshall Thundering Herd of Conference USA (3-9 in 2016-17) at 6 p.m. on ACC Network Extra. Saturday Sept. 16, the Pack will play its final game before opening ACC play when it welcomes the Furman Paladins (3-8) to Carter-Finley for a 12:20 p.m. kickoff on ACC Network
