McCauley for a laugh
I wish I had the time to easily break down all of Paul McCauley’s arguments. It seems as if he is incapable of making any rational thoughts anymore. By the way, Barack Obama nationalized the student loan industry to help pay for Obamacare. He’s borrowing the money from china at 4 percent and loaning it for 6 percent. It now cost all of us more to go to school to keep Obamacare out of the red. I wouldn’t sweat McCauley’s ignorance; everybody only reads his columns for a laugh.

Predatory towing is alive and well on Hillsborough Street!
My son, a student at N.C. State, was victimized April 16 by a towing scam. He was parked behind Jimmy John’s on Hillsborough. He and a friend parked, walked around to the Gopaks Bazaar, made a purchase and then had lunch at Jimmy John’s. No more than 15 minutes went by and his car was towed. He had no receipt for either purchase, and no recourse. He was forced to pay the maximum $100 fine. The police said there was nothing they could do. The towing owner, Travis Denton, stated on the phone to us that a Raleigh police officer, “Officer R.O. Hough,” encouraged this practice. I hope this is not the case, but Denton specifically mentioned Hough’s name on the phone. No call was made by a business to tow. This was a decision made by the tow company that my son left the property. They waited and raked in $100 for this tow, which is the new maximum allowed by law. They wait out back, have no clue and don’t care to know exactly which business is being visited. There appears to be nothing you can do, except seek legal action. Carolina Towing on 415 Tryon Road is a predatory tower! I am sure they are not the only one. But this company has a Better Business Bureau rating of “F;” but what do they care, they seem to “find” enough victims!

The power of anonymity
I recently read Technician‘s article regarding PostSecret, published on April 22, and how beneficial informing others of your problems can be. A student at N.C. State has recently developed a Web site that serves that exact purpose. Beatmysecret.com is a Web site allowing users to anonymously spill their dark, depressing, sexual and even humorous secrets. It can become beneficial for those who are looking for advice, consideration or just a few laughs. The description on the Web site describes itself as follows, “Beat My Secret is here to provide people from around the globe a platform to share their deepest and darkest secrets comfortably, and anonymously.”
Sites like this can be a great help to everyone whether they are looking for help or entertainment, and they go to show the endless power of anonymity.
