The gymnastics team came into the 2010 season with hopes of continuing to be one of the more successful athletic programs on campus, as it sought to build upon its EAGL Championship last season.
This season the Pack began on a strong note, taking down Rutgers in its first meet of the season by a considerable margin. The schedule got much tougher, as State faced off against Oklahoma, Florida, Nebraska, and Georgia, all of who were ranked no lower than tenth in the nation.
The mix of seniority and youth proved to be the key all season long. The Pack pulled off its biggest upset in school history by downing No. 10 Nebraska. In addition to downing the Cornhuskers, the team was able to compete with other top competitors, as it came within a point or less in multiple close losses.
At EAGL’s, the Pack came up just short of winning its second consecutive crown, falling just three tenths of a point behind the winner. The highlight of the season came at the National Championships, when senior Taylor Seaman earned the Pack’s first ever All-American honor for her performance on bars.
The team was successful for most of the season, but was a few falls on beam away from beating some of the top tier gymnastics programs in the country.
