N.C. State is having a great football season this year and The Technician seems to be consistent with publishing poorly written articles like last year. The latest, poorly written article that should have never been published would be that of Emily Kelly’s article Weighing Both Sides of Gay Marriage. I appreciate Emily Kelly for having an opinion on gay marriage, yet I do not appreciate how she tricks the reader in thinking her article would be an objective opinion of the people for and against gay marriage. Instead, Kelly talks about her view of gay marriage and how gay marriage should be left up to the voters and the churches, not the government. She attempts to confuse the reader, saying that the two sides of the situation is government involvement vs. non-government involvement. However, Kelly just talks about Jesus-lovin’ and how unnatural gays seem to be in her eye and the public’s eye. She later adds on to saying that homosexual behavior is unnatural since homosexuals do not reproduce. Kelly is entitled to this opinion, yet, the fact is that there are gay humans, dogs, penguins, and every other animal you can imagine. Therefore, I would suggest everyone, especially Kelly, in doing some research before determining what is and is not natural.
Again, Kelly and The Technician, I would suggest publishing articles that are reviewed and true to the meaning of the their titles. If this was an article about Kelly’s position on gay marriage with a title, such as Why Gay Marriage is Wrong, I would have been okay with it and I would have respected Kelly for having an opinion on the matter. Thus, if NC State can have a winning football streak this year, it’s never too late to turn it around.
