The Board of Elections has made various updates to its handbook which, according to the Board, are changes that are to make the election more accessible for students who wish to run for Student Government.
Some of the updates include changing the size limit for campaign signage, updating the spending limits for students who desire to run for various positions on campus and reminding students about the expense report requirement for candidates.
The primary changes that were made after overview from the Special Review Committee was an update for candidates to adhere to signage requirements for campaigning.
Additional changes that were made to the handbook were passed in a Student Senate Bill, the Campaign Spending Reform Act, which decreased the amount a student can spend in Student Government Elections.
The Board of Elections made these changes to stay in accordance with NC State policies, rules and regulations. According to the reasons why the updates were made, there is a list of relevant NC State policies which clarify why the updates were made to the handbook.
These changes will go into effect immediately following review from the Special Review Committee. Intent to Run forms open to all students for Student Government positions on Feb. 4, and books close on Feb. 17.
