The NC State volleyball team will host Virginia Tech Friday night at Reynolds Coliseum at 7:00 p.m. After a heartbreaking five-set loss Wednesday to UNC-Chapel Hill, NC State is still looking for its first win in conference play.
Along with the Wolfpack (5-10, 0-3 ACC), the Hokies (7-8, 0-2 ACC) are one of four teams without an ACC win. The two teams will be looking for a win to jumpstart the season Friday night.
The Wolfpack will look to add on to its four-game win streak against the Hokies, including a 3-1 victory in Blacksburg, V.A. last season.
Junior attacker Melissa Evans has been the heart of the attack for NC State, leading the team with 235 kills. Redshirt freshman setter Nina Sharpton, who is coming off of a season-high 50 assists in the game against UNC-Chapel Hill, will look to set to Evans’ side a lot.
Redshirt junior middle blocker Jessica Kemp and sophomore outside hitter Jade Parchment are two other players to keep an eye on up front for the Wolfpack. Kemp and Parchment were both dominant against the Tar Heels with 14 kills each. This duo will need to help out Evans again Friday with the attack if NC State wants to pick up its first conference win of the season.
Marisa Cerichio is the leading attacker for the Hokies with 166 kills as an outside hitter. Another outside hitter that the Wolfpack will need to keep an eye on is Cera Powell, who is second on the team with 134 kills.
The ACC Network Extra will broadcast the game at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
