On Friday, Oct. 18, the Women’s Center will be hosting its 2019 Love Your Body Day summit. This year’s theme is “Revolutionizing All Bodies: Finding Space in Institutions Not Made for You” and intends to focus on discussing how to process situations and institutions that are not intended to provide an environment that is good for all people.
The summit will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Women’s Center at Talley 5210. Several lectures and discussions focusing on issues like fatphobia, body politics and gender in the workplace will take place. The summit will end at 6 p.m. at the seal in Talley Student Union.
The Women’s Center is joining with the GLBT Center and Multicultural Student Affairs in order to provide support for attendees and all of their intersections. Elizabeth Nelson, a professor of Women and Gender Studies at NC State, will be speaking at the 10 a.m. session titled “Feminist Killjoy: Loving Your Radical, Authentic, Killjoy Self” in Talley 4270.
