Former NC State football defensive end Bradley Chubb was drafted fifth overall in the 2018 NFL draft’s first round Thursday night. Chubb is the Wolfpack’s first first-round pick since the team had three in 2006, including first overall pick Mario Williams. Chubb is NC State’s highest NFL pick since Williams.
Chubb finished the 2017 season with 10 sacks and 25 tackles for loss, earning the ACC Defensive Player of the Year award for his efforts, along with the Bronko Nagurski Award as the nation’s top defensive player. Chubb is NC State’s all-time leader in both sacks, with 25 for his career, and tackles for loss, with 54.5.
Chubb will be in a good spot joining a team with a talented front seven, including 2016 Super Bowl MVP and top pass rusher Von Miller. The Broncos open their 2018 season at home against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Sept. 9.
