The NC State softball team has a new head coach, as Jennifer Patrick-Swift was announced as the replacement for Shawn Rychcik Saturday by NC State Athletics.
Patrick-Swift has spent the last seven seasons as the head coach at Saint Francis, where she compiled 226 wins and a 61-43 record in the Northeastern Conference. Patrick-Swift led Saint Francis to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2017 and 2018, the first two in school history.
For the Wolfpack, Rychcik was dismissed after NC State went 23-31 this season. During his tenure in Raleigh, Rychcik compiled a 173-162-1 record. After winning the ACC Tournament in 2013, and leading the Pack to a Super Regional appearance in 2015, Rychcik’s teams hit a decline. NC State has gone just 64-102 over the past three seasons.
Patrick-Swift played college baseball at Methodist College. She began her coaching career as an assistant in Division III, working her way up to Saint Francis and now NC State.
