It was announced late Wednesday night that former Wolfpack basketball player Ryan Harrow will enroll at Kentucky to play with coach John Calipari.
While Harrow will have to sit out one year, he said he felt that Kentucky was the best option for him.
“I just felt like they had everything I needed as far as me getting better and me reaching my ultimate goals,” Harrow told Evan Daniels of Scout.com.
The point guard became a highly-touted player following his announcement that he would be leaving N.C. State due to one thing – the lack of available point guards in the 2012 class.
With players such as Tyler Lewis already signing on with the Pack and several other point guards being snatched up by other teams, Universities like Kentucky, Georgia and Texas along with many others rolled out the red carpet for the former State point guard.
If Marquis Teague, the point guard who has signed on with the Wildcats for the 2012 season, decides to depart for the NBA after one season much like John Wall did after one season with coach Calipari, Harrow could be thrust into the point guard position during his first season with the team.
The initial word was that Harrow would announce his decision on Friday, but he texted the news to Evan Daniels around 11 p.m. Wednesday night.
Harrow played in 29 games and was a starter for 10 of them with the Pack while averaging 9.3 points and 3.3 assists per game.
