With the culmination of seven top-10 finishes and two wins, freshman golfer Albin Choi was the unanimous choice for the ACC Freshman of the Year. Choi was also the only unanimous decision amongst all of the award winners.
Choi is only the third Wolfpack golfer to win the award, with the last winner being Tim Clark back in 1996.
In the fall, Choi experienced the most success for N.C. State with two wins at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate Tournament and the Rod Myers Invitational. While Choi’s spring was not quite as successful, he still garnered four top-10 finishes in the latter half of the season.
While Choi was being a consistent mainstay in the top-10 for the Pack during the spring, Sophomore Mitchell Sutton had several breakout performances, with his most notable weekend being at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate tournament.
Sutton won his first tournament when the team traveled down to Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C., which helped him to earn a spot on the All-ACC Men’s Golf Team.
Both Choi and Sutton are natives of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and accounted for two of only four underclassmen that made the All-ACC Men’s Golf Team.
With young players like Choi and Sutton, the Pack should be contenders for years to come in the ACC.
