Swimming and diving finished off a strong fall season before the Thanksgiving break at the Terp Cup. The men’s team finished second while the women’s team finished third. Many swimmers met NCAA B standards during the fall season. At the Terp Cup, sophomore Johnathan Boffa won the 100 freestyle in a time of 44.26, which makes him the fourth fastest in State history. Also at the Terp Cup, freshman Siri Smits swam the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:02.15, which places her with the seventh fastest time in NCSU history.
The swim team also defeated College of Charleston, Campbell, swept ECU, Duke and the Savannah College of Art and Design during the fall season. The men’s team finished the fall season ranked 19th nationally. Both teams will resume action on Jan. 14 in Atlanta, Ga.
