Wednesday’s Student Senate meeting, which was the shortest in recent memory, completed in under 40 minutes and consisted primarily of standard Senate business, including the first readings of legislation and appointments to the Board of Elections in lead-up to the election of first-year senators.
Among the legislation introduced at the meeting were bills to express Student Senate recommendation on various fees and the resolution to impeach Student Body Treasurer John Taylor Willis, a third-year studying business administration.
The impeachment bill was sent to the Committee of Government Relations and Oversight for further review. The committee will conduct a hearing to decide whether to recommend impeachment, dismiss or change the charges or reduce the punishment.
If the committee decides to recommend impeachment charges, their final report must include evidence gathered during their investigative process. The hearing will be held on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Talley 4140*.
