NC State announced via email on Tuesday that the UNC System has implemented a new policy that awards students’ credit for all Advanced Placement (AP) exam scores of a three or higher.
Because of this new policy change, many NC State students and others in the UNC System have gained new course credit based on the AP exam scores that were submitted during admission to their universities, according to the email.
These credits will take effect in fall 2019.
Students cannot make adjustments to prior or current coursework because of this change. In addition, credit will be awarded to previously completed or current coursework to students. These courses will now fall under the “non-degree coursework” section of a student’s degree audit, the email stated.
However, the new policy allows students to decline the credits if they choose. Students who wish to do this can contact the Student Services Center at [email protected] or 919-515-NCSU (6278).
The university encourages students to contact their academic advisers if they have any questions.
