NC State’s Board of Trustees is a group of 13 people that ultimately oversee and manage the development of the university. Members advise the chancellor as well as the UNC System’s Board of Governors with matters pertaining to the university, according to NC State’s website.
Per UNC System policies, the members of the board are elected in different ways. The UNC System’s Board of Governors elects eight, the N.C. General Assembly appoints two, one is recommended by the NC Senate’s President Pro Tempore and another is recommended by the N.C. Speaker of the House. The final member is NC State’s student body president.
Current members include Thomas Cabaniss, Robert Andrews III, Jimmy Clark, Ann Goodnight, James Harrell III, Stanhope Kelly, Wendell Murphy, Ven Poole, Ronald Prestage, Edwin Stack III, Dewayne Washington, Edward Weisiger Jr. and Student Body President Emma Carter, a fourth-year studying sociology and international studies.
All members except Harrell have attended NC State.
The Board meets every two months, and meetings are open to the public, according to NC State’s website. The next meeting is scheduled for Sept. 12-13 and will begin at 9 a.m. in the Dorothy and Roy Park Alumni Center.
