Every day, the orientation groups take a little detour from getting to know the campus and sit around in circles on the corridor in front of Burlington Hall and spend some time chatting, playing a game or asking orientation leaders some questions. One of these many orientation groups play slap hands and make the orientation a little more fun. New student orientations have been taking place all summer to help incoming freshmen to prepare for the new chapter of their life. Bobby Scanlon, an incoming first-year studying life sciences says, "I have learned a lot from orientation and I think I'm ready to start this fall. Orientation leaders are really nice and helpful."

The spectacular fireworks show that every year takes place Downtown Raleigh to celebrate Fourth of July was enjoyed by many from Lonnie Pool Golf Course at NC State. The fireworks painted the town in different colors.

Jaffton Garett, a student at Wake Technological Community College, smokes from hookah at the Fuzion Lounge and Cafe whilst enjoying the soccer match playing on television. The new bar, recently opened on Hillsborough Street, possesses the ambience of a hookah bar as well as a coffee shop.

Mr. Morris Glass, a Holocaust survivor and author of “Chosen for Destruction: The Story of a Holocaust Survivor,” shares his Holocaust experience at an event organized by NC State Department of History on Wednesday at SAS Hall. “What kept us alive was the incredible faith and the fact that we were with our families,” said Glass before he burst into tears while describing the separation from his family. He concluded by saying, “I request all of you that for the sake of millions who perished, to never forget the Holocaust.”

Brett Morris, 2013 College of Design graduate, teaches Sarah Hardison, a sophomore studying graphic design, how to screen print T-shirts at the Studio Collective 2015 at Leazar Hall on Saturday. "I love screen printing. Teaching people how to print fires me up more than anything else," Morris said. This is the second Studio Collective hosted by College of Design. "It is an initiative to showcase all the work we do in an entire year. We want the students to come and see our work and appreciate it as we give back to the community something valuable," said Ryan Williams, a freshman studying graphic design and one of the organizers of the event.

Lynn Good, President and CEO of Duke Energy, speaks on "Leading with Energy" at the Executive Lecture series organized by Poole College of Management on April 8. She discusses how meeting the demands of consumers along with caring about the environment by thinking of different sources of energy affects leadership in energy industry. She was interrupted by a protest from various students who wanted to bring attention to Energy Freedom Act, an act Duke Energy is actively against.

Erik Thomas, professor of English, was recently interviewed for a blog as well as at a radio show to comment on the Southern accent of Kevin Spacey in the daily soap, House of Cards. He has studied Southern American English and is one of the distinguished experts in Southern accents.

NC State suspended its chapter of Alpha Tao Omega, which is currently under investigation by the university for allegations of drug use and distribution. The investigation began when a student reported sexual assault at party in the fraternity house.

A pledge book belonging to a member of the Pi Kappa Phi - Tau Chapter was found at a restaurant near campus. The book contains racially and sexually charged comments and derogatory racial remarks.

Dozens of "plungers" braved the icy waters og Lake Raleigh Saturday morning, Feb. 21, 2015 for the 2015 Polar Plunge. The annual event is hosted to raise funds for Special Olympics North Carolina. This year's groups raised more than $14,000 for the cause.

The Institute for Emerging Issues Forum, organized by NC State University, was held at Raleigh Convention Center Monday and Tuesday. The event attracted innovators and officials from all around North Carolina. Experts discussed how they could turn an innovative idea into a huge success, beneficial for themselves and society.

About this on campus job, Garima says, "I don't feel like this is a job, it is an opportunity for me to learn about courses that I would have otherwise not taken up."

The NC State men's basketball team took the court at PNC Arena Thursday against Jacksonville University and Sunday against the University of South Florida. Led by sophomore forward BeeJay Anya and his school-record 10 blocks, the Pack easily handled the efforts of the Dolphins, defeating them 79-43. Again on Sunday, the Pack squeaked out a win over South Florida 68-65 after a late scoring run by the Bulls.
