The North Carolina General Assembly overrode Gov. Josh Stein’s veto to enact House Bill 318, which expands local cooperation with ICE by broadening its reach to all felonies and certain misdemeanors and requires sheriffs to hold individuals at ICE’s request starting Oct. 1.
