After falling to Auburn in its season opener, No. 21 NC State gymnastics rebounded, sparkled and stormed the floor to secure the win in the 2026 home opener.

The Wolfpack delivered clean routines and brought the crowd at Reynolds Coliseum to their feet, especially on the bars, floor or by landing a “Wolfpack stick”. No. 14 Clemson held a slight lead of 0.425 before the final rotation, stepping up to finish the meet on the beam as NC State took the floor, looking to surpass the Tigers. After great performances in the final event, the Wolfpack defeated Clemson 196.125-195.925.

The Pack opened the meet on the vault, while Clemson started on the bars. After the first rotation, NC State trailed by just 0.100. Junior Maddie Hall led the Pack on the vault, taking second place with a score of 9.875, followed by junior Ashley Knight with a score of 9.850, finishing in third.

After the second rotation, both teams had completed their bar and vault routines. Clemson held a slim lead of 0.125. On the bars junior Elle Hadrick scored 9.875 to tie for first place with Clemson’s Ella Cesario. Junior Katie Harper followed with a 9.850, tying Clemson’s Eve Jackson for third.

Clemson moved to the floor in the third rotation while NC State stepped up to the beam. Tigers redshirt senior Brie Clark gave an outstanding performance, earning first place on the floor with a 9.925, the highest individual score of the meet. NC State’s Hadrick and sophomore Syniya Thomas tied for second place, both earning 9.900 on the floor. Thomas was named ACC Specialist of the Week earlier this week.

NC State finished with a total score of 196.125, recording a 48.950 on bars, 48.800 on beam, 49.075 on vault and 49.300 on the floor.

Clemson’s score tallied up to 195.925 with a distribution of 49.175 on bars, 48.675 on beam, 48.975 on vault and 49.100 on the floor.

Next week, the Wolfpack will travel to face the Golden Bears of Cal in Berkley, California, on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m.
