Athletics are a crucial part of NC State’s culture and quality standing, but they are much more than trophies and plaques in a glass case.
Every year, NC State spices up its sporting events with promotions that range from fun for the family to raising awareness on important issues. This year is no different, and the Wolfpack’s upcoming spring promotions encourage community and awareness. Here are your top 10 to look out for.
Coming in hot at No. 10 is Dollar Dog Day, when NC State baseball takes on Campbell on March 24 and UNC-Wilmington on April 7. Head down to Doak Field and treat your friends and family to dollar hot dogs. The Wolfpack–Campbell game is also Student Wolfpack Club Day so make sure to wear your State merch and support the Pack.
No. 9 is another fun promotion for the whole family: bingo. When the Wolfpack plays baseball against Lafayette on March 6 at 3 p.m., Alpaca Chicken will sponsor a baseball bingo night. Wolfpack Softball is also hosting a bingo game against Charlotte on March 10th and giving away a special prize at the end.
Entering with a bang at No. 8 is Firework Night at Doak Field on May 14 after NC State Baseball takes on rival UNC. It is also Police Appreciation Night, when NC State honors those who risk their lives for our safety. Don’t miss the chance to see State beat the Tar Heels and watch a light show in celebration of our police force.
Taking No. 7, seven innings, seven winnings is back for the Pack. Join NC State softball on March 13 as it challenges Pittsburgh for your chance to win a prize every inning. There are seven chances to win and fun for the whole family.
Calling all little leaguers! No. 6 is Kids Day presented by Galaxy Family Fun Zone, taking place on March 15 as NC State baseball closes out its series against Lafayette. Wolfpack softball is hosting its Kids Day on April 4 as rival UNC-Chapel Hill comes to town for a day of fun for the little ones — all kids are welcome to run around the bases after the match-ups.
The No. 5 spot is reserved for a two-sport collision. On April 12, Pack baseball celebrates the Masters. The first 500 fans in Doak Field will receive a Wolfpack Rope hat, and Masters-themed promotions will be distributed throughout the game against Duke.
The No. 4 slot is an event the whole community and multiple generations can get involved in. NC State presents its Baseball Trading Cards giveaways where Wolfpack fans can collect their own trading cards throughout the season. Four unique sets of Pack players will be offered, with the first set released on March 14 against Boston College. The other three sets will be distributed on April 4, May 2, and May 16, don’t miss your chances to collect.
Entering the list at No. 3 is Military Appreciation Night on April 2. Join the Wolfpack baseball team as it opens a series against Notre Dame and honors those who serve our country.
At No. 2 comes a pair of awareness promotions. ALS Awareness Night is on April 28 as Pack baseball finishes their series against ECU and supports those suffering with ALS. Down Syndrome Awareness Day is on March 10 as State takes on Elon and partners with Gigi’s Playhouse. There will be Gigi’s Playhouse performances throughout the game so don’t miss these special events.
Taking the No. 1 spot for the upcoming athletics promotions at NC State is its second annual Victory Over Cancer game. Join Pack baseball as it plays against Duke and welcomes pediatric cancer survivors to Doak Field. You can also purchase a Will Wade Waffle Cone from Two Roosters Ice Cream at any point in the baseball season, with proceeds going toward The V Foundation for Cancer Research.
