NC State track and field spent most of the weekend hosting Raleigh Relays, highlighted by multiple podium finishes, season bests and all-time marks.
With just a few events on the first day, senior Luke Thierfelder placed third in the javelin with a season-best 65.45m, marking his second podium finishes in as many meets.
On day two, four athletes set season-best marks while others etched their names further into NC State’s all-time record books.
Sophomore Mariama Hunt leaped 12.65m, finishing second in the women’s triple jump. On the men’s side, junior Ryan John leaped 15.58m, taking first place.
Though junior Angelina Napoleon’s time of 4:11.96 finished just outside of the top five at sixth place, it marked Napoleon’s new personal best and the No. 7 fastest time in program history.
It was a tight-knit race in the men’s 110m hurdles as sophomore James Coleman and junior Xavier Branker ran a 13.98 and a 14.08, respectively. That single tenth of a second proved to be the difference between first and fourth place.
But on day three, it was Branker to edge out Coleman. Branker took first in the men’s 400m hurdles with a time of 50.23 while his counterpart took second with a personal-best 50.38.
In the men’s long jump, junior Tyson Adams leaped his way to first place with a 7.54m jump.
Closing with the 4x400m races, the women’s team — freshman Alexis Mayhew, junior Kyra Durham and sophomores Shauné Ingraham and Molly Canon — ran its way into the record books with a 3:41.66 finish, the third-fastest time in program history.
On the men’s side Coleman and Branker teamed up with juniors Christian Parker and Elijah Dawes to secure first place with a 3:08.00 — No. 7 on NC State’s all-time leaderboards.
The Pack will take this weekend off before traveling to Durham to compete in the Duke Invitational April 9-11.
