NC State track and field had an eventful weekend, posting season and personal bests all over the board in the UVA Challenge, Wake Forest Invitational and the NC A&T Aggie Invitational.
Wake Invitational
In the Wake Invitational, freshman distance runner Sadie Engelhardt set a new NC State and ACC women’s 1500m record. Engelhardt ran a 4:03.28 to finish second in her heat.
Junior Kate Putman made her steeplechase debut at Wake Forest, and she placed very well at fourth overall with a time of 9.56.26.
UVA Challenge
Senior Luke Thierfelder followed up his personal best performance in the Duke Invitational with another top five finish, placing fourth in men’s Javelin with a 61.71m throw in the UVA Challenge. Thierfelder was .93m away from his third straight podium finish.
The women’s high jump was filled with the Pack in the UVA challenge, as five members repped the red-and-white. Sophomores Macy Miller and Audrey Jenkins both shared a piece of fifth place, tied with four others all jumping a score of 1.62m.
Miller posted her personal best with 1.62m, after not competing at all last season, she is back in the score books and looking the best she has in a Wolfpack uniform. Junior McKenna Moritz recorded her season best jump in Charlottesville, also scoring 1.62m.
The men’s long jump was home to four Pack leapers, with sophomore Ryan Farness and Junior Tyson Adams both finishing in the top ten. Farness scored a personal best, leaping 7.34m.
Senior Ryan John also etched his personal best into his resume in Charlottesville, leaping 7.13m.
A&T Invitational
In the women’s 200m, junior sprinter Jordyn Parker placed seventh with a time of 24.04.
The men’s sprinters were just as good, as sophomore James Coleman, junior Xavier Branker and freshman Rance Springs all finished in the top ten in the men’s 400m.
Coming up next, the Wolfpack will travel to Philadelphia, PA to compete in the Penn Relays on Thursday, April 23
